WCW Monday Nitro
April, Week 2, Year 1
Miami, FL
Lord Steven Regal comes out to the ring and talks about his upset victory over the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Ric Flair ’91 last week on Nitro. As a result, Regal has been inserted into the WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match at WCW Spring Stampede, thus making it a Triple Threat Match. Regal calls out Bam Bam Bigelow and suggests that if they team up tonight and soften up Flair before Sunday then that WCW World Heavyweight Championship is as good as theirs to fight over. Bigelow notes Flair’s unstoppable reign last season on Nitro and says that he’s on board with weakening Flair tonight. They then call Flair’s courage into question as “The Nature Boy” finally appears on the stage. Flair accepts their challenge but says that he’s not coming alone to this fight. Flair has made a little phone call to The Horsemen and has found back up in a man known as Sycho Sid!
Backstage, Bret “The Hitman” Hart ’98 is shown speaking with WCW Hardcore Champion, The British Bulldog and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart. Since the Nitro premiere, they’ve been making bee-lines toward WCW gold. Bulldog already has Hardcore gold and tonight Bret is competing for an opportunity at the WCW United States Championship while Bulldog and Neidhart are competing for an opportunity at the WCW World Tag Team Championships at WCW Spring Stampede.
