My UFC 218 Overview

UFC.png

One thing I like to do with the guys over at the livestream chat is to do Pick ’ems. In order to spice things up, I’m going to do some of that for this show.

My Picks: Willis, Reyes, Alhassan, Cooper, Herrig, Teymur, Oliveira, Felder, Torres, Alvarez, Cejudo, Ngannou, Holloway

Early Prelims

  • Allen Crowder vs Justin Willis (Heavyweight bout)
  • Willis lands a left on Crowder that gets him wobble-sauced. It’s that punch that lets Willis finish him off.
  • Willis beats Crowder by KO in 2:33 of round 1
  • Willis goes cuss crazy in his post-fight interview but the guy’s got that street charisma.

  • Jeremy Kimball vs Dominick Reyes (Light Heavyweight bout)
  • Reyes lands some devastating elbows on the ground which allows him to choke out Kimball.
  • Reyes defeats Kimball in 3:39 of round 1

  • Sabah Homasi vs Abdul Razak Alhassan (Welterweight bout)
  • Looks like the ref stopped the fight prematurely. Both guys were phone-booth-fighting. Homasi got clipped a few times and fell to the ground but it wasn’t a shot that did it. He may have been going for a single-leg. But from Herb Dean’s vantage point it looked like Homasi could have been turtling up. Definitely a premature stoppage and Homasi has a right to be angry. However, Herb is one of the best refs but he is also a human and humans make errors from time to time.
  • Alhassan “defeats” Homasi in 4:21 of round 1

  • Amanda Cooper vs Angela Magana (Women’s Strawweight bout)
  • Magana fights out of Puerto Rico? That’s cool! I know I’m Dominican and DR/PR are supposed to have some kind of rivalry but honestly, I got love for all of my Latinos.
  • Fence grab there for Magana which prevents a takedown. If it successfully prevents a takedown then I humbly believe that there should be a penalty. The ref lets the fight continue.
  • Right after that Cooper takes down Magana.
  • Cooper is just grounding and pounding to end round one. She continues her assault in round two. It was a total smothering which gave the ref no choice but to stop it.
  • Cooper defeats Magana at 4:34 of round 2 by TKO.

Prelims

  • Felice Herrig vs Cortney Casey (Women’s Strawweight bout)
  • Herrig is one of my favorites. She’s from Crystal Lake so she’ll fuck you up like Jason Voorhees.
  • Herrig defeats Casey by split decision after 3 rounds

  • David Teymur vs Drakkar Klose (Lightweight bout)
  • Teymur is running around Klose who keeps getting annoyed by this. Klose just stops dead in his tracks and puts his arms down like “come on, bro. We gon’ fight or what?” much to the crowd’s delight. The thing is though, Klose wasn’t doing anything either. He just stops and puts his arms down.
  • Strategically, Teymur’s not doing wrong here.
  • Herb Dean stops the fight and warns Teymur of timidity which I don’t really agree with. Off-night for Herb and I think he’s one of the best. Much like what Joe Rogan said.
  • Klose is complaining at the ref. I think he’s saying something about the the tape but he looks frustrated. He’s still stopping and putting his arms down as a way to make it look like Teymur is timid. It kind of looks to me like a strategy on Klose’s part to lure in Teymur whenever Klose puts his arms down. Only Teymur isn’t really going for it.
  • David Teymur defeats Drakkar Close by unanimous decision
  • No post-fight interview. It was nothing to write home about. Sometimes styles clash and we’re not talking AJ Styles.

  • Alex Oliveira vs Yancy Medeiros (Welterweight bout)
  • Right off the bat I can tell that this fight is going to be a funner bout to watch than the previous one.
  • I just noticed that so far I’m 7-0 on my picks. I’m usually never that good.
  • 30 seconds to go in round 1 and this fight is CHAOS!
  • I give round 1 to Oliveira
  • Another crazy round. This is probably my fight of the night.
  • Medeiros stops Oliveira at 2:02 in round 1 by TKO
  • Medeiros asks for a bonus. I cringe because they like to not give the bonuses to guys who ask or plead for it.
  • I spoke too soon! I take my first hit in my picks. What a fight!

  • Charles Oliveira vs Paul Felder (Lightweight bout)
  • Looks like Oliveira kneed Felder in the face while on the ground which is illegal. I rewound it and slow-mowed it and there’s a chance that the knee landed on the chest. I’m not sure if that’s legal or not. I’m only a mere fan of this sport and am still learning about its intricacies.
  • Wow. I was right there with Jon Anik and Joe Rogan yelling at Felder about entering into Oliveira’s ground game. Felder shuts me right up with a TKO on the grounded Oliveira. Well played.
  • So Oliveira tapped out from that first elbow by Felder. My gripe here is with the referee. Oliveira visibly tapped but ate six elbows after the tap out. Off night for the ref squad tonight.
  • Felder defeats Oliveira by KO at 4:06 of round 2
  • I’m definitely a fan of these announcers that still fight. This dude just crushed this other guy’s face and is going to show up to work all dressed up with a mic. Good show.

Main Card

  • Tecia Torres vs Michelle Waterson (Women’s Strawweight Champion)
  • Tecia is from Fall River, MA and I’ve been a fan of hers for a few years now. Good to see her doing her thing in the UFC. Even more brownie points for her walk-out music which was the theme to the Mortal Kombat movie.
  • Torres defeats Waterson by unanimous decision. Good fight.

  • Eddie Alvarez vs Justin Gaethje (Lightweight bout)
  • This is the coach’s fight from TUF. I’m a fan of both guys and it’s still feels good to see Alvarez do his thing in the octagon after doing his thing in Bellator.
  • I’m on round 3 right now and Gaethje is doing a great job of avoiding takedowns at the moment…
  • …and right when I say that, Alvarez BLASTS him with a knee. Looks to be over.
  • Alvarez defeats Gaethje by TKO at 3:59 of round 3.

  • Henry Cejudo vs Sergio Pettis (Flyweight bout)
  • For all my pro wrestling friends, did ya’ll know that Henry Cejudo almost went to the WWE a little while back? What could have been?
  • Round 3 is about to end. Looks like Cejudo won this thanks to his wrestling.
  • Cejudo defeats Pettis by unanimous decision.

  • Alistair Overeem vs Francis Ngannou (Heavyweight)
  • Holy smokes. Ngannou just uppercutted Overeem’s head to the moon!
  • Ngannou defeats Overeem by KO at 1:42 of round 1.
  • They’ve literally replayed that KO clip about 37 times, lol.
  • Ngannou brings up the slavery issues going on in Lybia. Hopefully it brings more awareness to a horrific situation out there. Like the man said, FUCK slavery and FUCK racism. It’s all simply fear of the unknown mixed with a dash of insecurity.
  • Ngannou vs Miocic is going to be one hell of a fight.

  • Main event time: UFC Featherweight Champion, Max Holloway vs Jose Aldo (Featherweight bout)
  • I’m picking Holloway to win but it’s the most worried I am over my picks tonight. Aldo is no joke.
  • Holloway defeats Aldo by TKO at 4:51 of round 3
  • STILL UFC Featherweight Champion: Max Holloway
  • I first took notice of Holloway back on UFC 160 in 2013 which resulted in a split decision loss to Dennis Bermudez. Despite the loss, something gravitated me towards Max. Something told me to follow that guy and become a fan even though not a lot of my friends were aware of he was. I’m glad I’ve come along wait on this Holloway train. It’s been a fun ride watching and quite the journey since that Bermudez fight back in 2013.
  • As far Aldo goes, it would seem like he has never been the same after his fight with Conor McGregor back in 2015. However, he’s only lost to Holloway and Conor. If you look at his record on Wikipedia, those two names are literally the only two blotches on his record (sans a loss in 2005 in Brazil). He’s not old either. The guy is only 31. I’m merely a year older than him. Perhaps he’s just tired or weathered? I’m interested to see how he does in his next fight.
  • Awesome fight. I can’t decide which one I enjoyed more, this one or the Oliveira/Medeiros fight.

Post-Fight Fun

My Fight of the Night pick: Oliveira/Medeiros

My Pick ’em results: 12-1! I’ve only started following MMA full-time back in the Summer of 2013 (It was always a topic of conversation between my friends so I figured I’d randomly start watching to see what I could learn. It’s been a really fruitful endeavor so far. The sport barely interested me back then and now upon following it with an open and eager mind, I’ve come to enjoy it. #TangentFinished). Anyway, It wasn’t long before I started picking my favorites to win before each show. But I’ve never done this good though! I wish I was in Vegas for this one!

My NJPW World Tag League Day 12 Overview

NJPW World Tag League 2017

  • It’s day 12 the New Japan Pro Wrestling World Tag League and it’s in Osaka which (in my humblest of opinions) is the best Japanese crowd.
  • It’s all B Block matches tonight and I have only watched the tournament matches.

  • The Best Friends (Beretta & Chuckie T who have six points) defeated David Finlay and Katsuya Kitamura who have no points. Best Friends now have eight points and have the lead. However, the show is not over yet and The Guerrillas of Destiny who have six points can tie The Best Friends at eight points.
  • I’ve been a huge Beretta fan since I saw him in FCW. Great to see him still putting on awesome performances. I’ve only discovered Chuck this past year. Although I was pulling for some singles success for Beretta, I can’t deny the pairing of the Best Friends.
  • David Finlay has come such a long way since his young lion days. It’s pretty cool to think that this is all still the beginning of what is going to be a great career for him.
  • Kitamura just has star written all over him. He’s soaking up all of that knowledge as a young lion now but when he graduates, I think he’s got what it takes to be a major player. With his size, ol’ Vince might take a shine to him and his size.

  • Michael Elgin and Jeff Cobb (4 points) defeat Togi Makabe and Henare (0 points).
  • Elgin and Cobb now have six points.
  • Elgin and Cobb make for one hell of a tag team. Just two guys throwing around their opponents like potato sacks. I like the stalling suplexes they do where they pass the guy to each other while the guy is still up for the suplex.
  • I kind of like the team of Makabe and Henare. This pairing lets Makabe compete in the tournament and also puts Henare (and some of the other young lions) in there to really learn, advance their skills and progress themselves in their careers.

  • The Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa with 6 points) vs The IWGP Tag Team Champions, The Killer Elite Squad (Lance Archer and Davey Boy Smith Jr. also with 6 points) is up next. The winner ties the Best Friends for eight points as co-leaders of the B Block.
  • G.o.D. get the win and now have eight points to tie Best Friends as co-leaders of the B Block.
  • Since G.o.D. beat the tag team champions here, I would suspect a title match between them sometime soon. Possibly the dome if they win the WTL.

  • CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano with 4 points) vs War Machine (Raymond Rowe & Hanson with 6 points)
  • If War Machine win then they join Best Friends and The G.o.D. at the top of the B Block.
  • CHAOS win with Yano delivering low blows to War Machine before a roll-up on Rowe for the pin.
  • CHAOS now have six points.

  • Time for the promos!
  • EVIL is up first. “Nooo problem. Nooo surprises. This…is…eeevil…EVERYTHING….is…eeevil.
  • Love it

  • Minoru Suzuki. No idea what he says but you don’t need to understand Japanese to enjoy this guy’s promos.

  • Bad Luck Fale and Chase Owens. I love their skits they’ve been doing on social media with Chase Owens thinking that he’s also Tongan. They call the cameraman a nerd. Possibly a shout out to Bullet Club mates Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

  • Death Juice. My favorite juice (next to orange strawberry banana juice) and I love these guys. Especially their promos. Juice is just laying down what’s up before you suddenly hear a psychotically crazed “YEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH” in the distance as Sami Callihan walks up to talk shit. This tournament has made me a bigger fan of Sami. I said the same for Juice back in the G1 when he killed it in that tournament.

  • Best Friends do their quasi-4th wall shattering banter. I fucking love it.

  • David Finlay and Katsuya Kitamura are up next. You know what I love about New Japan? If WWE did this tournament, whenever a young lion loses the match while tagging with a regular guy, in the back of your mind you’d think: “This guy is going to get pissed that this rookie keeps losing these matches for the team. He’s going to turn heel on the young lion and attack him if he keeps losing.” But New Japan promos and booking completely wash that notion from your mind.

  • As a Dominican-American (Wow…I don’t think I’ve ever called myself that before. Hmm) I quite enjoy how Tetsuya Naito mixes his Japanese and Spanish together. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do the same sometime.

  • Hasta manana! Adios!

FCW TV

April, Week 2, Year 1

Tampa, FL

It’s tournament mania all across the WWE Universe as Superstars scramble to prove that they are the very best and tonight on FCW TV it will be no different as two tournaments will continue to get under way as we look to crown a NEW FCW Heavyweight Champion and a NEW FCW Divas Champion! Tonight’s main event will feature a Qualifying bout in the FCW Heavyweight Championship Tournament between The Brian Kendrick and Akira Tozawa from Dragon Gate in Japan.

Welcome back to FCW TV. Many in the WWE Universe know that NXT is the stepping stone to the WWE main roster. Well, FCW is the stepping stone to NXT! Tonight you will bear witness to the future of NXT and the WWE!

Match #1

FCW Heavyweight Championship Tournament

Qualifying Round

Normal

Ariya Daivari vs Gentleman Jack Gallagher

Winner: Gentleman Jack Gallagher

Gallagher advances to the first round of the FCW Heavyweight Championship Tournament where he will face fellow countryman, Tyler Bate!

Coming up next!: Former WWE Women’s Champion and former WWE Divas Champion, Mickie James compete in the Qualifying Round of the FCW Divas Championship Tournament where she will face the dangerous 22-year-old Judo master from Brazil, Taynara Conti!

Match #2

FCW Divas Championship Tournament

Qualifying Round

Normal

Mickie James vs Taynara Conti

Winner by submisison: Taynara Conti (Armbar)

Review: So many female armbars! I just watched the Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale last night and half of the show consisted of women finishing fights with armbars. Conti continues it tonight with what HAS to be an upset victory over former champion, Mickie James. The Brazilian Judo master advances to the Quarter-Finals where she will face Bianca Belair!

Mickie James is interviewed after her match and is asked about her thoughts upon losing in the Qualifying Round in the FCW Divas Championship Tournament. James can’t believe that she lost in the Qualifying Round when she is a former champion. She is asked if the r-word (retirement) has entered her mind with this defeat. James looks defeated at first but then dons a look of purpose as she lets it be known that she’s just getting started.

A video montage is shown featuring Akira Tozawa arriving to FCW by way of Dragon Gate in Japan. Footage is shown of Tozawa’s awe-inspiring high-flying maneuvers as well as his devastating strikes. He is one of the best competitors from Japan and he has arrived to Florida to begin his journey to be the one of the best in the U.S.!

The Brian Kendrick is interviewed and says that he’s coming to FCW via a similar departure point to Akira Tozawa’s. Kendrick and Tozawa are both arriving to FCW by way of Japan. The difference is that this is not new territory for Kendrick who is a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion. He admits that his impetuousness may have cost him the WWE limelight but now he has returned more awakened, wiser and more dangerous than before and he’s about to ruin Tozawa’s grand American debut.

Match #3

FCW Heavyweight Championship Tournament

Qualifying Round

Normal

Akira Tozawa vs The Brian Kendrick

Winner by pinfall: Akira Tozawa (Bridging German Suplex)

Tozawa advances to the first round of the FCW Heavyweight Championship Tournament where he will face Jinder Mahal! Does Tozawa have what it takes to take down “The Modern Day Maharajah” in this tournament?

My Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale Overview

Ultimate_Fighter_Logo.png

Early Prelims

  • Wow. The WWE 2K18 logo is literally all over the octagon! It’s always very weird to see one of these worlds appear withing the universe of the other.
  • Gillian “The Savage” Robertson defeats Whitmire by submission by armbar in 2:12.

Prelims

  • Shana “Danger” Dobson vs Ariel Beck is up next.
  • I give round 1 to Dobson.
  • Dobson lands a sick right hand which stuns Beck!
  • Beck is down from that same punch!
  • Dobson wins by TKO in 2:53 of round 2.
  • Dobson is a school teacher and is asked by Daniel Cormier if she has a message for her students. She’s like “You better behave or see what happens!” LOL

  • Rachael Ostovich vs Karine Gevorgyan is up next.
  • Gevorgyan is the first woman from Armenia to fight in the UFC. I’m a fan of Armenia and it’s history and culture so It’ll be fun to follow her UFC career with great interest.
  • The fight stops at 1:40 seconds in round 1. Ostovich taps out Gevorgyan via armbar.

  • Andrew Sanchez vs Ryan Janes us up next.
  • Big combo from Sanchez lands! Janes looks hurt!
  • Janes looks very discombobulated taking these heavy blows!
  • This fight should really be stopped.
  • Man, Janes is still in this! What a tough ass dude!
  • Wow, what a survival by Janes. I 100% thought this fight was over.
  • Looks like that pressure from Sanchez really wore him out.
  • Janes essentially is pulling off Homer Simpson and Moe’s strategy of tire your opponent out and survive before stepping in to finish off your weary foe.
  • Time for round 2
  • Although Sanchez got a few takedowns this round, Janes is just relentless with putting pressure forth with strikes. I give this round to Janes so far.
  • Time for round 3
  • Janes puts Sanchez down with strikes! What a comeback! During round 1 I was calling for the ref to stop the fight in favor of Sanchez, then Janes not only survives but swings back to finish the fight in his favor! What a TOUGH S.O.B.!
  • I hear Janes was the biggest underdog on the card tonight. He’s got every right to “WOOOO” as much as he wants post fight! lol.
  • LMAO this interview!
  • Dan asks “How badly were you hurt in that first round?”
  • Janes is like “Not at all”
  • DC is like “Come ooooooon” as the Vegas crowd shares an LOL with me. This dude was dead to rights in that first round!
  • One thing these fighters have to realize is that when the interviewers ask you if there’s anyone you want to call out, that’s pretty much the company asking you to cut a promo on somebody. It’s pretty much your moment to make the fans take notice of your personality. I know MMA is a sport but the UFC is a business and this business is driven by it’s stars. The worst thing you can say is “err…ah…I’m gonna let them make the fights”. I’m pretty sure people would buzz about it more if you were like “Hey Joe Shmoe! You ain’t shit and I can mop the floor with you. You don’t deserve the paper that your contract is written on! Come on and fight me!”
  • Also, I’m pretty sure that when you ask Dana for a bonus you’re pretty much not getting it. Let your work do the talking!

  • Montana De La Rosa submits Christina Marks via armbar at 2:00 in round 1.
  • Another armbar finish!
  • Which agents are producing this match? So many armbar finishes!….oh wait, this is MMA.
  • “Montana, is there anyone you want to fight?”
  • “Whoever they give me”
  • Me: Uuuuugh

Main Card

  • Sijara Eubanks is out of the main event tonight because of weight cut issues. Although I’m a huge fan of Roxane Modaferri, I’m also a fan of Sijara. Great fighter that takes no BS and takes no prisoner. Also, she’s from Springfield, MA which is a stones throw away from me.

  • Joe Soto vs Brett Johns is up next.
  • Johns wins with a……calf crusher?
  • Another first round submission!
  • Brett Johns submits Joe Soto in round 1 via Calf Slicer!
  • Simply Phenomenal!

  • DeAnna Bennett vs Melinda Fabian is up next.
  • Fabian knocks Bennett down with a big head kick right before the end of the round!
  • Bennett looks hurt.
  • Oh now she’s trying to play it off. lol. Walk it off, girl!
  • Fabian grabs the fence to avoid a takedown. She didn’t let go right away when Big John asked her to. It’s a human instinct to fence-grab. I get it. Big John takes a point away. Good move.
  • We’re going to a decision. Ah well. They can’t all be bangers.
  • It’s a draw! So did that point deduction ultimately cost Fabian?

  • Eric Spicely vs Gerald Meerschaert is up next.
  • Spicely is from Stoughton, MA. My GF’s hometown. It’s basically my backyard.
  • Meerschaert ends it with a DEVASTATING body kick! That looked brutal.
  • Meerschaert defeats Spicely by TKO in 2:18 of round 2

  • Next fight is Barb Honchak vs Lauren Murphy
  • It’s Barb!!! She’s aliiiiiiiiive!…………and kicking ass! #StrangerThingsReference
  • Honchak is from Everett, MA?!….oh wait. That’s a “WA” not a “MA”
  • Murphy looks happy to be there. I hear that she took Roxy’s spot in this fight after Roxy took Sijara’s main event spot.
  • Murphy beats Honchak by split decision. She looks happy as all hell.
  • * CRINGE! * DC calls Lauren Barb!

  • Next fight is Sean O’Malley vs Terrion Ware
  • Sean is from that Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series.
  • That show + Snoopcast = My favorite MMA programming of all time. I hope a new season comes out soon.
  • This was a great fight! This is my fight of the night so far.
  • O’Malley might have what it takes to be that star that the UFC is always looking for.

  • Roxy vs Montano is up next.
  • Roxy, Sage Northcutt and Sam Alvey should all form a stable.
  • Roxy is from The Ultimate Fighter season 17 with Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate back in 2013.
  • I became a huge fan of two fighters during that season. One was Shayna Baszler who you guys might recognize from the Mae Young Classic or from always being in the crowd at PWG shows.
  • The other fighter that I became a huge fan of was Roxy. It’s awesome to see my two favorite female MMA fighters doing big things since that season. I’m not a journalist so I’m super biased in this fight.
  • My huge fandomness of Roxy is confirmed. I’m on round 5 and my heart has been in my throat this whole fight.
  • Montano beats Roxy by split decision. Damn it.
  • I’d like to see Montano vs Sijara Eubanks to see who’s the the real TUF winner!

  • …….So after that fight I’m like “Isn’t there supposed to be a coach’s fight now? Alvarez vs Gaethje right? So I did a quick Google and BAM! Instant spoilers UFC 218 spoilers as I watched this TUF finale late on Saturday night. Ah well, hopefully it was a good fight. Now I go to bed bummed out about Roxy.
  • I feel like tonight she looked the best from what I’ve seen from her since I became a fan in 2013. Hopefully, she comes back and kicks even more ass.

NJPW World Tag League Day 11 Overview

  • I’ve only seen the tournament matches.
  • Although I’ve watched every WTL event this year thus far, I have no idea who’s ahead and who is behind. Also I’ve lost track of who is in each block. Usually I’m somewhat on top of things during the G1 Climax.
  • Tonight’s matches were all in the A Block
  • Bullet Club members Hangman Page and Yujiro Takahashi defeated TenKoji (Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima)
  • Los Ingobernables de Japon (EVIL & SANADA) defeated Manabu Nagata and Yuji Nagata (Remember him from WCW?)
  • Suzuki-Gun (Minoru Suzuki and Takashi Iizuka) defeated Juice Robinson and Sami Callihan
  • CHAOS (Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI) defeated Bullet Club (Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens)
  • Nothing really blew me away on this show although I still had fun watching it. If I had to pick one that I had the most fun watching, it was probably the Fale/Owens/Goto/YOSHI-HASHI match.
  • Then came one of my favorite parts of these shows, THE PROMOS!
  • A few months ago, I took up learning Japanese AND Portuguese. One of the reasons for that was so I could grasp some of these promos better. It worked here and there but I have a long way to go.
  • The promos that the Japanese guys cut should definitely be subtitled! Although I don’t even need to understand some of these guys to really enjoy their stuff. (More on that in a bit)
  • Hangman Page and Yujiro discuss “getting their shit together” tonight after various decrees that they were “needing to get their shit together”.
  • There’s something to repetition in promos because I enjoy every EVIL promo that I watch. There’s a certain rhythm to them. Almost like a song. “Nooo problem. Nooo surprises…..This…is eeeeevil….EVERRRUH-THINGGG…..is eeeeeeevil. (If you haven’t seen Kenny Omega mime out EVIL’s catchphrase then get your ass to YouTube right this second and look it up! It’s seven seconds well spent.
  • I love Death Juice (Juice & Sami). They have a fun chemistry in the ring and there’s just something about their promos that I just enjoy to watch. They’ve been my favorite thing in this tournament.
  • I love Minoru Suzuki but I dread Iizuka. Suzuki is one guy where I don’t even need to understand Japanese to enjoy the heck out of his promo. His facial expressions say it all. He just has an aura of absolute bad assery about him.
  • Before I die I would love to see a match between Brock Lesnar and Minoru Suzuki.
  • Suzuki is one guy to enlist in a zombie apocalypse….but then again, he’d probably throw you to the zombies if he ever starts feeling like you’re holding him back!
  • Speaking of guys that emit an aura of bad assery. Bad Luck Fale is another one of those. I could listen to this guy talk all day long. I love the dynamic between Chase Owens and him. It’s similar to the dynamic that Enzo Amore had with Big Cass. One does all the talking and the other is a seven foot bad ass that will cave your head in. Only Chase can go, man! I’ve enjoyed watching him come up in NJPW since I started watching in 2013.
  • If you haven’t seen the instagram skits between Fale and Chase, that’s another one you have to “get the fuck outta here” and check out! 😉

That’s it for now!

My WWE 2K18 Results: WCW Saturday Night (April, Week 2)

wcwsn

WCW Saturday Night

September, Week 2, Year 1

Pensacola, FL

Two weeks ahead of their big WCW World Heavyweight Championship match at the WCW/Japan Supershow, WCW World Heavyweight Champion, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair ’88 and “The Dragon” Tatsumi Fujinami will have a face to face meeting in the ring!

Match #1

Normal

Larry Zbyszko vs Michael “P.S.” Hayes

Winner by pinfall: Michael “P.S.” Hayes (Piledriver)(3 ½ Great)

Post: Zbyszko leaves as Hayes celebrates in the ring. Hayes sees this and grabs Zbyszko before ramming him into the steel steps.

Review: Legendary tag team wrestler, Michael Hayes defeated legendary singles wrestler, Larry Zbyszko. A big singles win for “The Freebird” here. However, there is no doubt that Zbyszko will be seeking a rematch here. When that happens, will Hayes be able to pick up another big win and make a big statement in the singles division?

Match #2

Normal

Jimmy “Jam” Garvin vs Earthquake

Winner by pinfall: Jimmy “Jam” Garvin (Brainbuster)

Review: With this victory, Jimmy “Jam” is officially on a winning streak in the singles division. There are now two or three competitors above Garvin in the WCW singles ranks. If Garvin keeps it up then it won’t be long until he’s challenging for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

WCW United States Champion, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat wishes Sting ’88 and The British Bulldog both luck in their #1 Contender’s match. Steamboat shakes Sting’s hand as The British Bulldog refuses a handshake and tells Steamboat to hold on to his luck because he’s going to need once the Bulldog comes after that WCW United States Championship.

Match #3

#1 Contender’s Match for the WWE United States Championship

Normal

Sting ’88 vs British Bulldog

Winner by submission and #1 Contender: Sting ’88 (Scorpion Death Lock)(4* Amazing)

Post: Bulldog approaches Sting and motions to Sting that he is approaching in peace. Bulldog then offers a handshake that Sting accepts. Bulldog pulls no tricks here. Just respect.

Review: This was both Superstar’s last match on WCW Saturday Night as Sting ’88 is headed to World Class Championship Wrestling as part of a talent agreement between WCW and WCCW. British Bulldog is now exclusive to WCW Nitro (as well as WWE’s Golden Era brand). Sting will head to World Class with some momentum with this victory.

Cactus Jack and DDP are interviewed and say that they are the greatest and most dangerous tag team in professional wrestling. No matter where they are or where they go, they take over the place and take all of the gold. They add that Sting and Lex Luger better not take them lightly because tonight, Cactus Jack and Diamond Dallas Page are about to show them why they aren’t to be trifled with.

Match #4

#1 Contender’s Match for the WCW World Tag Team Championships

Tag Team

Sting ’91 & Lex Luger vs Cactus Jack ’92 & DDP ’92

Winners and #1 Contenders: Sting ’91 & Lex Luger (Scorpion Death Lock on DDP from Sting)

Review: Sting and Lex Luger will now head to the WCW/Japan Supershow to face the WCW World Tag Team Champions, The Fabulous Freebirds. The Freebirds are one of the most legendary tag teams in history. On the flipside, it’s common knowledge that Sting and Luger are great friends. However, are they a great tag team? Capturing the WCW World Tag Team Championships will certainly silence any doubt!

Match #5

In-Ring Brawl

Ric Flair ’88 vs Tatsumi Fujinami

Winner: Ric Flair

Review: This would have been a fancy in-ring promo followed by a brawl but Storyline Designer is once again not a part of this game so we’ll have to make due with the brawl part. “The Nature Boy” gets the better of “The Dragon” in this encounter. This isn’t good for Fujinami who looks to have obtained an injury to his back. Will this be a bad omen for Fujinami and cash in the bank for Flair? We’ll find out at WCW/Japan Supershow!

INJURY REPORT

World Class Championship Wrestling

April, Week 2, Year 1

Fort Worth, TX

Tonight’s main event on World Class Championship Wrestling will once again feature champions teaming up to face a pair of tag team champions as WCCW American Heavyweight Champion, Jerry “The King” Lawler once again teams up with WWE Champion, The Ultimate Warrior to face the WCCW World Tag Team Champions, Cactus Jack and DDP! Can Lawler and Warrior co-exist for one more match or will these two cantankerous elements combust tonight?

Also tonight: who will win the opportunity to challenge the most fearsome Goliath of all time, Andre The Giant who hungers for competition. Footage is shown of Buddy Roberts defeating Cactus Jack via count out last week as well as footage of Jake “The Snake” Roberts defeating Kerry Von Erich. Tonight, it will be Roberts vs Roberts for a match with Andre The Giant!

Footage is shown of Rikishi defeating Jimmy “Jam” Garvin last week. Michael “P.S.” Hayes is then shown challenging Rikishi to a match tonight. Garvin steps in and says that he wants whatever’s left of Rikishi in a rematch.

WCCW American Heavyweight Champion, Jerry “The King” Lawler is interviewed and he talks about how facing the WWE Champion, The Ultimate Warrior in a Champion vs Champion match in two weeks is definitely one of the toughest challenges that he has ever faced. However, “The King” has faced the biggest and the baddest and if this championship around his waist means anything, it means that he has what it takes to beat The Ultimate Warrior!

Former WCCW Texas Heavyweight Champion, Kevin Von Erich steps in to wish Jerry Lawler good luck in his match tonight and again in two weeks. However, right now Kevin wants…no….Kevin NEEDS to take this opportunity to issue Cactus Jack a challenge for a rematch for the WCCW Texas Heavyweight Championship. That belt meant everything to Kevin and it signified the love that he shared with the great people of Texas. Kevin promises not to let Texas down in his quest to regain the WCCW Texas Heavyweight Championship.

Match #2

Winner: Tatsumi Fujinami (3 ½ * Great)

NEW WCCW Texas Heavyweight Champion and WCCW World Tag Team Champion, Cactus Jack accepts Kevin Von Erich’s challenge to a rematch but warns him that there may be nothing left once Cactus Jack is finished with him. As far as the WCCW World Tag Team Championships go, DDP is not an official member of the WCCW roster but Cactus Jack doesn’t care because there’s only one man that Cactus Jack calls on to have his back and that’s Diamond Dallas Page! Together, they will show that they hold the highest prize in all of wrestling when they defeat TWO world champions in one match tonight.

One week ahead of their match next week on World Class Championship Wrestling, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair and the man who would go on to retire him, “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels share a tense confrontation in the ring. Flair regrets being overcome with the dirty feeling of respect for Shawn Michaels. That isn’t at all like “The Nature Boy” who prides himself on being better than everybody else in professional wrestling and next week “HBK” is going to find that out firsthand next week. This confrontation eventually breaks down in a brawl.

Warrior says that he will take down “The King” and relieve him of his throne.
